Julie Ferguson's Story (from FB April '21):

Completed my pre-reg year with Lloyds in Greenock

Got married to Euan August 1991 and moved to Troon where I’ve been since

Continued with Lloyds as manager until 1995 when after having my daughter, Bethany, I reduced my hours and worked with a local independent group

In 2000 moved to another independent after the birth of my son, Zachary.

In 2007 I returned to a multiple as pharmacist manager but 18 months ago decided to go in relief working between 4 local stores

Must admit pharmacy has been good to me but maybe that’s because I’ve only worked 3 days a week for the last 25 years!

Can’t believe how the time has passed so quickly 30 years married and a 26 and 21-year-old

Bethany a qualified chartered accountant and Zachary just completing his final year at Dundee studying Urban Planning -hence the delay in my post I’ve been proofreading his dissertation

Still keep in touch with my pharmacy friends though not as regularly as we’d like.

John McAnaw's story (from Audrey's FB account April '21):

Wow, so amazing to hear about everyone’s journey after graduation, and seeing some of the photos too, reminds me of what a blast we had back then. Happy Days! Did my pre-reg for Boots in Alexandria (by Loch Lomond) and stayed with them afterwards. Got together with the love of my life, Audrey McDade, towards the end of ‘92 and married in Oct ‘94. Had our amazing son Matthew in ‘97 (now 24, OMG how time flies). Went back to Strathclyde same year as a graduate teaching assistant and worked towards my PhD in Pharmaceutical Care with Professor Steve Hudson (a great mentor, friend and music aficionado, he is sadly missed). Got my PhD in 2003 and moved to St Andrews in Fife (still here, and love it) to work in independent community pharmacy in Cupar delivering clinical pharmacy services. Also was a part-time lecturer in clinical practice at Strathclyde, but change of direction took me to NHS 24 in 2006 as head of pharmacy (still there today, still love it!) plus I am pharmaceutical advisor to the Scottish Ambulance Service (closest I’ll get to being in the SAS!!). Been on the RPS Scottish Pharmacy Board since 2012 and was chair for 4 years. Still following The Bhoys, listening to music and going to gigs although COVID has interrupted that for now. Managed to persuade Audrey to go to Glastonbury in 2008 for my 40th, and we’ve been many times since, although no submarines involved (Paul?). Great to see and listen to Phil’s playlist, that would be an amazing night out!! I would add You Got Good Taste - The Cramps, Spiritwalker - The Cult, What Difference Does It Make - The Smiths, Spirit in the Sky - Dr and the Medics, Candybar Express - Love and Money, Crash - The Primitives, Unbelievable - EMF, and many more. Hope everyone is well, and keep posting (although I have to rely on Audrey keeping me up to date with FB)

, my turn. Good grief, the hair! I'm still a pharmacist but after 27 years in NHS hospital pharmacy, I moved to Gilead Sciences and work in cell therapy in cancer care. Married to Stephen for 20 years, one daughter aged 15yrs and a Lhasa Apso called Molly. Alex Mullen was one of my doctorate supervisors still have the same season ticket at Celtic Park, still love music and I do a lot of running these days. Looking forwards to seeing more posts."

Lesley Redfern's story (from FB April '21):

"Returned to Strathclyde to do a PhD in Physical Chemistry straight after completing my pre-reg. Then went to work at Abbott Labs in Kent doing formulation development, manufacturing of clinical trial supplies and international CMC regulatory work and where I met my husband Peter. We have been married 22 years this year. We moved to the USA about 1 hour north of Chicago in 2002 and I moved into regulatory affairs where I have worked since in various roles and on CMC aspects for biologics for the last 15 years. Abbott split into Abbott and AbbVie so now at AbbVie. So been with the company for 26 years. Have two American born daughters, Eilidh is 17 and Amy is 15. Life is good in the USA and a lot closer to Hawaii one of our favourite vacation destinations. Always busy now between work and kids. Love taking photos of my girls dancing, or scrapbooking, or doing crafts, baking cakes or gardening. It’s great to catch up with everyone, thanks Hazel."

Having made the move south to Maidstone for pre-reg year - I’m still here. Martin and I eventually got married in 2000 and now have two boys 19 and 16.

I did a stint with Boots then moved on to an independent. Whilst there, I got the chance to start working in a large GP surgery in 2005 as a practice pharmacist. Spent some time as Superintendent Pharmacist setting up their internet pharmacy but it wasn’t for me so moved on to another GP surgery in 2014 where I became an independent prescriber."

Well after pre-reg In Barrow-in Furness I went back to Glasgow and worked for Sinclair Pharmacy (Central Station & Great Western RD) then job with Boots. Did marry Robert - didn't work out. Met Tim, March 1996, on a Boots course (attended by the wonderful

). Later that year moved to Colchester then left Boots & did locums. Took a year off 98-99 and travelled around SE Asia, Australia & NZ, then back to the UK to locum. Then manager with Moss at Holland-on-Sea & then Mersea Island. Then took off to Australia in 2000. Now we both work for UFS Dispensaries in Ballarat, Victoria. I have managed the pharmacy in Buninyong for 18 years which has included 6 months off to travel around South America & southern Europe as well as two maternity leaves Sophie (2005) & Hannah (2008). Tim & I got married in 2003 in Hawaii. It was a compromise as I wanted to get married & Tim wanted to go on holiday so as Hawaii had no residency period for getting married we did both! Unsure why my yearbook entry lists cooking as a hobby as I don't cook, meal plan, or enter a supermarket, that's what my husband is for!!

Many fab nights out in The Toon!! Reunited with John after a BTC training week in Nottingham and the rest is history as been married for 26 years. We have a son Matthew now 24 recently started his Law traineeship. We live in St Andrews after moving here 19 years ago after 9 years in Newton Mearns. Still loving community pharmacy and have most recently become a Director in Lomond Pharmacy LTD in Fife working between Kinglassie and Falkland. Still loving eating drinking and being merry especially at gigs and Glastonbury. So looking forward to us all getting a Level 8 type soiree together soon , big hugs, lv Auds xx"

Eunice Morley's story (from FB May '21):

Hello. Have really enjoyed reading everyone’s stories, this has really made me smile so thank you, Hazel. I was lucky to work with several of you early on. I did my Pre-Reg in Gartnavel General with Julie, followed by a brief stint at RAH Paisley with Joan, then worked for 4 years in the Victoria, when I did an MSc Clinical Pharmacy at the same time as Derna and Pamela. Ended up doing my dream job of paediatric oncology at the RHSC Glasgow, where I worked with Lesley. My husband John's training then took priority (the primary school boy/medical student mentioned in the yearbook, who I eventually married when he was old enough – to put the record straight he’s only 2 ½ years younger than me). We moved around England living in Leeds and Exeter before settling just outside Oxford, where I’ve been lucky to find a job in paed onc again. No kids but 2 cats, and 10 amazing nieces and nephews, and our first great-nephew (yikes!) born 2 weeks ago. Don’t think I’ve seen any posts here about grandchildren yet, but guess that will be coming soon for many of you. Enjoying English village life, and have thrown myself into the book group, running club, gardening club, and wine-tasting group in our community village pub, none of which I’m very good at except the latter. We do miss Scotland though and look forward to being able to visit family and friends up north regularly again soon.

It's been amazing looking through all the posts. Such good memories. Thanks, Eunice Morley for sending me the link. I haven't seen anyone mentioning they ventured north in their career. I think my yearbook profile said the call of the wild was calling me north again. And north I stayed. I had a terrible pre-reg in an Aberdeen independent pharmacy where my " tutor" went off on maternity leave about a month after I arrived and I seemed to spend my days out delivering prescriptions and oxygen cylinders to patients. I then moved to Cullen and worked for a year in an independent pharmacy there. That was lovely but all I wanted was to get back "home" to the Isle of Lewis. (The Runrig song "Going Home" was my theme song in uni). A job came up in the local hospital in Stornoway so I switched over to hospital pharmacy for 8 years. I married Ian in 2001. I then went back to community pharmacy with Boots in Stornoway full-time at first then part-time after I had my three children. Catherine is 18 and studying Gaelic and History at Glasgow Uni, Angus is 16 and Eilidh 14. A few years locuming followed then two years ago I went back to full-time community pharmacy- to pay for my children's university! We moved to the Isle of Harris in 2015 so I drive 37 miles each way to work in Stornoway every day. (Lewis and Harris are connected by landmass but different Islands, it's all to do with chieftains long ago) And that's my story so far. I have no extra degrees, no exotic places that I have lived and haven't crossed paths with anyone from our class in university in a very long time!

Graeme Macleod's story (from FB Apr '21):

"The yearbook has innocent reference to both Jimmy Saville and Rolf Harris.. so if that doesn’t show how times have changed nothing will.

After Pre-reg at Glaxo in Ware and at St Barts in London. I returned to Scotland for 5 years to work in classy Clydebank in Industry for Scherer. I then did a PhD in Manchester and made my way to work in Brussels for FMC around 2000. I’m still living here 20 years later but for a different company now R and D Manager for SPI Pharma. I met my wife Nicky during my pre-reg and we have 2 girls Annie 21 and Cerys 17. I had a bit of a health scare a few years back so try to make the most of life and still play 5 a side football, cycle and enjoy Brussels live music and local produce (mainly the beer!). I still follow Dumbarton FC but unfortunately, their predicament of being fairly dire is one thing that hasn’t changed through the years!! Oh and bad hair seems to be another unchanged phenomenon!!
